This RPI Mainstreaming Mental Well-Being (MMWB) Taskforce builds on the clinical and prevention services offered by the student health and counseling center by cultivating an institution-wide systematic public health approach to improving the mental well-being of Rensselaer students. This process was made possible through participation in the JED Foundation Campus Fundamentals program, an 18-month learning collaborative designed to strengthen campus approaches to student mental health.
The taskforce consists of four committees: Campus Safety Net, Communications, Community Building and Social Connectedness, and Culture of Care. To learn more or get involved, contact one of the taskforce’s co-chairs, Claire Gonyo, institutional research analyst, or Kevin Reddean, director of the Counseling Center.

At RPI, we know that mental health and wellness are important to helping each member of our community achieve their professional, academic, and personal goals while maintaining individual and interpersonal well-being. These opportunities are provided by the university itself, student groups, and faculty representatives.
University Resources
Student Health and Wellness at Rensselaer is comprised of the Health Center, Counseling Center, Disability Student Services, and the Office of Health Promotion. Together, our offices utilize evidence-based practices to address acute and chronic physical and mental health issues, equal access to programs and activities for students with disabilities, and prevention-focused health education consultations and wellness programs.
The Mueller Center is the hub of Recreation and Wellness (RecWell) on the Rensselaer Campus. Operated by the Rensselaer Union, the Mueller Center provides numerous RecWell activities and programs for all Rensselaer students, faculty and staff, regardless of skill level, including signature well-being programs like Mental Health Week, Fresh Check Day, Stress Relief Week, and mental health first aid certification.
