NSECís mission is accomplished by working together with governmental agencies, industry, and top academic institutions through formal partnerships and collaborations.

The Nanoscale Science and Engineering Center (NSEC) for Directed Assembly of Nanostructures enjoys a variety of forms of joint intellectual endeavors, which are grouped here under the general term collaboration. One of NSEC's greatest strengths, as an organization, is a well established and growing research and development network, including partners, participants, affiliates, and advisors. The diversity of NSEC participants' expertise spans the many disciplines of engineering, science, and management in the context of academic, industrial, and educational entertainment sectors. A strategic diversity focus group was established to advance plans for increasing NSEC diversity. Center programs are made possible by the support of and interaction with government and funding agencies. Reviewers, industry, and advisory boards provide valuable feedback that is utilized by NSEC managment to strengthen the Center's research, education, and industrial outreach efforts.
