Preparing for a Career
The combination of outstanding fundamental instruction with the opportunity to work on significant and challenging applied mathematical problems ensures that our students are prepared to assume leadership positions in industry and academia.
Recent Ph.D. graduates accepting academic positions have gone to California Institute of Technology, University of Kentucky, Rice University, Texas A&M, North Carolina State, Courant Institute, Brown University, and Northwestern University.
Others accepting nonacademic positions have gone to AT&T Bell Laboratories, General Motors Research Laboratories, Institute for Computer Applications in Science and Engineering, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Naval Research Laboratory, Woods Hole Ocean Graphic Institution, M.I.T. Lincoln Laboratory, and the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratories.
Some recent Master’s Degree graduates have accepted positions at IBM, GE, AT&T, Pratt and Whitney, GTE, National Security Agency, Bell Communications, Citibank, and Eastman Kodak.
