Thermoelectric Cooling

 mikes class

Mike Fornasiero’s earth science classes are discovering the benefits and enjoyment of scientific research. One activity they completed included studying a Peltier Junction. It was used to demonstrate thermoelectric heating and cooling. A basic introduction to the device’s operating principles was given. Students were then able to adjust the power supply and observe the rates at which surface temperature would change with an attached thermocouple. Following the interaction period a class discussion took place over future methods of cooling electronics, as well as what is currently used.
