Welcome to my homepage!

I'm currently pursuing my Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, under the supervision of Prof. Alhussein A. Abouzeid. Before joining Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), I obtained my M.S.E.E. at the University of California, Riverside (UCR), supervised by Prof. Yingbo Hua, M.S. in high performance computation at Singapore–MIT Alliance (SMA), National University of Singapore (NUS), and B.E. in Electrical Engineering at Southeast University (SEU), Nanjing, China. From 2002 to 2003, I was a co-op student at Communication and Devices Division, Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R), Singapore . In 2005, 2007 and 2008, I worked as a summer intern at Network Advanced Technologies Group, Motorola Inc., Arlington Heights, IL, Digital Communications Group, Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs (MERL), Boston , MA , and Wireless Networking Business Unit, Cisco Systems Inc., San Jose , CA , respectively.

Research
My research interests lie in the areas of wireless communications and networking, including stochastic control and optimization for wireless networks, cooperative communications in mobile ad hoc networks and wireless sensor networks, and ultra-wideband communications. My Ph.D. thesis topic is "Information Transport in Wireless Ad Hoc Networks: Capacity, Control and Optimization". Other research projects that I have completed include:

  1. Low-Complexity Synchronization in Multi-band OFDM UWB systems (MERL, 06/2007 - 08/2007)
  2. Adaptive Channel Tracking in OFDM systems (Motorola, 06/2005 - 09/2005)
  3. Routing and Forwarding Strategies in Wireless Relay Networks (UCR, 07/2004 - 06/2005)
  4. Interference & Coexistence Issues of UWB with other narrowband systems (I2R, 12/2002 - 06/2003)
  5. Joint Iterative Channel Estimation and Decoding in WCDMA systems (SEU, 07/2001 ~ 07/2002)
  • Patents
    • Z. Ye, C. Duan, P. Orlik and J. Zhang, “Methods and Apparatus for Narrow Band Interference Detection and Suppression in Ultra-Wideband Systems”, US Patent (filed), Mar 2009.
    • Z. Ye, C. Duan, P. Orlik and J. Zhang, “Packet Synchronizing for Communication over a Wireless Communication Systems”, US Patent (filed), May 2009.
