Kermit at Rensselaer
Kermit, a communications and file transfer package, was originally
developed at Columbia University.
Columbia maintains a distribution
site which contains source code, executables, and documentation for
all versions of kermit.
Computing and Information Services currently supports Kermit on two
platforms: MS DOS and
Unix. General Kermit documentation
is available in Quick Study 9.
MS DOS Kermit
To get a copy of the current CIS MS DOS Kermit distribution, click
here and have
your Web browser save the file as kermit.exe on your PC. Kermit.exe
is a self-extracting archive, so run kermit.exe on your PC to extract
the distribution files. For information on completing the installation,
read the !README.TXT file that was extracted or read
Quick Study 9.
For general usage information, click here.
Unix Kermit
The Unix version of Kermit, C-kermit, runs on all RCS platforms and is
available automatically when you login. Documentation is available via
the man page.
Questions about Kermit usage can be sent to the ACS Consultants at
consult@rpi.edu. Bug reports
should be sent to kermit-maint@rpi.edu.
