Interests

What am I thinking about?

I think the internet has a lot of potential, in my mind you can find just about anything online. For those things you can't find online, I'd like to make them available. I like the concept of Wikipedia, and generally hope the greater good will prevail. I'm interested in portable data, I think its important to seperate your data from your system, anc content from design. It makes backing up very easy. I think someday there will be small servers in every house, coordinateing all sorts of operations, login information, and profiles.

Indexing

I have a problem with my memory, its very bad. I frequently loose a soda that I'm drinking or completely forget where I was going next on the internet. I think everything can and should be indexed, I wish I had the ability to index my life, searching for the lost soda at a moments notice. For now I'll have to settle with indexing everything that can be repsented in some form of computer based data.

IPv6

I think IPv6 is a very good concept and heavily beneficial to the future of the internet. For things to grow there needs to be more IP address, and maybe someday every computer can have its own public IP address. That would make my life with port forwarding and triggering much easier.

Instant-On

I really don't like waiting for things to load, and someday I think there will be an operating system that is nearly instant on, able to turn on and be ready to work within 10 seconds, not coming from standby or another low power state. Maybe the entire system will run off a USB key, and just have massive servers behind it

Archive

I don't like deleting things, I don't think I should have to. Hence I use gmail. Of course I can't put everything in my gmail, but I think an archive and version control based filesystem would be awsome. Hard drives are cheap enough now and pretty darn big, but they don't cut it for archiving several gigabytes of video.
