| MA&O
Background and History
For nearly twenty years, the biennial conference
on Multidisciplinary Analysis and Optimization (MA&O) has brought
together industry practitioners, government employees, and academics to
present and discuss the latest developments in multidisciplinary design,
analysis, and optimization.
Multidisciplinary analysis and optimization is rapidly becoming a standard
element of contemporary design methodologies. With significant advances
in computing algorithms and power, impressive analysis and optimization
applications have been successfully carried out in industry, government,
and academia alike. Additionally, theoretical developments ranging from
new optimization algorithms to approaches for design system robustness
and reliability have played a significant role in the every growing acceptance
of multidisciplinary design and optimization. Historically, the MA&O
conference has provided a comprehensive view of the state-of-the-art.
The purpose of the Multidisciplinary
Analysis and Optimization (MA&O) Conference is to bring together users,
developers, and researchers to present the latest theoretical and computational
developments, applications, ideas, and problems in the field of multidisciplinary
analysis and design of complex engineering systems. Successful design
of these complex engineering systems requires analysis that accounts for
interactions among the disciplines (or parts of the system) and synergistic
optimization that exploits these interactions.
