Professional Objective
A position in a semiconductor manufacturing or research and development
environment with growth potential.
Education
- May, 1996
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY
Master of Science in Materials Engineering.
Concentration in Microelectronics Manufacturing.
Thesis: "Epitaxial Ag Films on GaAs - Effects of Cleaning Procedures".
G.P.A. 3.4/4.0
- December, 1992
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY
Bachelor of Science in Physics
Concentration in Economics
G.P.A. 3.5/4.0
- September, 1991-December, 1991
Harvey Mudd College, Claremont, CA
Attended one semester via RPI student exchange program
Experience
- 8/93-5/96
Graduate Research Assistant, Center for Integrated Electronics and
Electronics Manufacturing, Departments of Materials Engineering and Applied
Physics, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY
National Science Foundation sponsored research focused on the development of a
suitable metallization scheme for ohmic contact formation to GaAs, with
particular emphasis on interface structure and high temperature thermal
stability. Co-deposited materials using the partially ionized beam deposition
technique. The resulting alloys were characterized using X-ray 2 theta and
pole figure analysis, Rutherford backscattering spectrometry and X-ray
photoelectron spectroscopy.
- 5/93-8/93
Policy Analyst Aide, The Providence Plan, Providence, RI
Provided research, photographic, graphic arts, statistical analysis and
computer skills in support of a strategic economic grant proposal for community
based family centers in Providence.
- 5/92-8/92
Researcher in X-ray Optics, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy,
NY
Selected for National Science Foundation sponsored undergraduate research.
Designed, constructed, calibrated and operated a microscope-based
computer-controlled optical densitometer to analyze X-ray transmission patterns
recorded on photographic film. Assisted in the design, construction and
calibration of a high resolution X-ray reflectivity system.
- 5/91-9/91
Preprofessional Engineer, IBM Corporation, East Fishkill, NY
Member of a diagnostics engineering group which supported semiconductor
manufacturing lines. Performed programming support on a project which would
allow the detection of trends early and automatically, daily monitoring of
in-line electrical data and the initiation of action plans if specifications
were not met. Co-authored a technical report on problems associated with test
sites on newer versions of a product.
- 5/90-12/90
CO-OP Engineer, IBM Corporation, East Fishkill, NY
Diagnostics engineering. Primary goal was the improvement of process yields.
Performed statistical analysis of data from process sectors, programming and
program maintenance, laboratory verification of data taken automatically and
scrutinization of parameter limits where appropriate. Completed technical
report explaining why a particular parameter was prone to failure on specific
products.
- Spring 1989
Tutor, Community College of Rhode Island, Warwick, RI
Tutored freshmen physics and chemistry.
- 1985-1988
Petty Officer Third Class, United States Navy Crewmember on board nuclear fast
attack submarine Phoenix (SSN-702). Primary watch station was
Helmsman-Planesman.
