The Church of Zvart'nots (Zvart'notz', Zuart'noc'), or the Cathedral of the Angels, is located in Vagharshapat, the Republic of Armenia (coord.40-08 / 44-21). It was erected about 650-659 AD by the Kat'olikos Nerses III 'The Builder' (641-661 AD) according to a Greek inscription and the Armenian historical accounts of Sebeos and the Kat'olikos Yovhannes Drasxanakertc'i. Zuart'noc' was constructed at the traditional site of the meeting between King Trdat and S.Gregory the Illuminator as described by the Armenian historian Agathangelos in his account of the conversion of Armenia to Christianity during the 4th century.
