The Church of S. Hrip'sime is located near S. Ejmiatsin, the Mother Church of the Armenians in Ejmiatsin, Vagharshapat, Republic of Armenia (coord. 40-12 / 44-17). An account by the 7th century Armenian historian Sebeos and two inscriptions, state that the church was erected by the Kat'olikos Komitas (615-628 AD). The present church was built over the 4th century mausoleum erected by the Kat'olikos Sahak. During the renovations of 1959-1962, the remains of a pagan structure were found beneath the floor of the church.
