I was surprised to find out that there wasn't anything like this out there on the net (or at least that I know of).

In my opinion, Kenichi Sonoda is one of the most talented manga artists and character designers out there. I want more people to realize the absolute brilliance that this man posseses. He is truly a genius in his field.

His earliest work included character designs for Wanna-Bees, Otaku No Video, Gall Force, and Bubblegum Crisis. Later, he assumed a larger role in the production of Riding Bean. The enormous success of Riding Bean truly made him a giant in the anime industry. The Gunsmith Cats manga, and subsequent anime, only reinforced his popularity.

He is a big fan of guns and owns an extensive collection of replicas (They are only replicas because owning a gun is illegal in Japan). He enjoys exotic automobiles, and 70s and 80s American action films and tv shows. Much of the inspiration for Gunsmith Cats and Riding Bean came from these same shows.

Sonoda was interviewed on tape in the Special Chapter 0 of Gunsmith Cats (this was included in the special edition of Gunsmith Cats Chapter 1, released by AD Vision). Also, Sonoda had some words when The Sci-Fi Channel showed Gall Force during its anime week last year.

At this point, I am collecting material (images, designs, pictures of Sonoda-Sensei, interviews, etc) for this page. If you have anything that I don't, please let me know. This page is undergoing a change in the way it looks (thank god). Expect things to pop up soon, so please be patient. Thanks!
