It has long been believed that Jackie Robinson was the first professional baseball player to break the color barrier. While he was the first black player to play professional baseball in the twentieth century, he was not the first black baseball player. It was a man by the name of Moses Fleetwood Walker with the Toledo Bluestockings in 1884.
