LRO Part A Instructions
Please Note: There are two parts (one that you do yourself, and one that someone else does). In order to earn full credit, you must complete both parts and email them to Dr. Jan by the start of class on Jan. 23 . You should turn them in by email, with the interviews in the text of the email and not as attachments. Remember, you must maintain your own copy to resubmitted at the mid-term and final. Dr. Jan is not responsible for keeping back-up copies of your work.

Part A provides information about the student's experiences and background in reading, writing, speaking and listening, and technology prior to the class. This information comes from two sources: the student's parent, past teacher, or other person who knows the student well (Part A.1), and the student him or herself (Part A.2). Typically this part of the record is assigned and completed within the first week or two of class. This helps establish the student's "starting point" for development over the course of the class. The two sections of part A should be brief summaries, rather than long narrative accounts, no more than one-half to one page each. It should go without saying that the student portion should be completed in complete sentences and should be carefully proofread, but I'm going to remind you to do this anyway.
