Toa Hordika

History

After their flight from Metru Nui, the Toa Metru vowed to return and save the Matoran who still slept in their spheres beneath the Coliseum. This turned out to be much harder than they had expected. The Visorak horde had come to Metru Nui, and their ruthless leaders, Sidorak and Roodaka, had taken over the Coliseum. The Toa walked straight into a trap. Ambushed by the Visorak, they were captured and mutated into Hordika- half heroes, half wild Rahi. The Hordika must learn to use their new powers while resisting the darkness now within them. And there are still the Visorak to fight and the Matoran to save.

Biography

Vakama Hordika

Vakama has been greatly changed by becoming a Hordika. For the first time, he is troubled by the fiery rage of a wild Rahi. He has difficulty getting along with the other Toa, especially Onewa, so he spends much time alone. Vakama's Hordika tools, a pair of blazer claws, can blast flames and charge up his fiery spinner.

Nokama Hordika

Nokama has taken the effects of the mutation better than the other Toa. Her Hordika side allows her to sense the underwater world in a way she never could before. Still, she has difficulty retaining her clear Toa thinking and avoiding the anger of the Rahi. Her fin barbs are useful for swimming, underwater climbing, and increasing the power level of her water Rhotuka.

Whenua Hordika

Whenua has studied Rahi for most of his life. Now he must be on guard against his wild half, or he may become one himself. He and Bomonga work especially hard to protect Metru Nui's wildlife from the Visorak hordes. To help accomplish this task, Whenua carries quake thumpers, jackhammerlike devices which easily hack through stone and earth. His Rhotuka spinner can create earthquakes, carve fissures, or make a wall rise out of the ground.

Onewa Hordika

Onewa's impulsive and volatile nature has not been improved by his transformation into a half-wild beast. This causes problems around the other Toa. It also gets him into trouble with the Visorak, since he often attacks without thinking. Still, he has overcome both hordes and the enemy within on several important occasions. His tools are called claw clubs. They can smash rocks or throw them, and are also useful for climbing sheer rock faces.

Matau Hordika

Matau hates his new Hordika form, and is anxious to be changed back to normal. But he realizes that saving the Matoran is more important than a cure, so he applies his impatience to the task of the rescue. His twin fang blades are perfect for slicing up Visorak webs, and his elemental air spinner protects him from the hordes.

Nuju Hordika

Always a logical thinker, Nuju is slowest to realizing the advantages of instinctive Rahi thought. He is irritated by Kualus' odd manner of speaking, though he sees the usefulness in the Rahaga's language of the fliers. Nuju's Hordika teeth blades make effective knives or climbing tools. His elemental Rhotuka, which can be charged up by the tools, covers its target in a thick coating of ice.

Weaponry

The powers of the Toa Metru were greatly altered by the mutation. The Hordika are unable to use mask powers. Their elemental energies can only be used through Rhotuka spinners, floating wheels of energy which can be launched by Hordika, as well as by a few other creatures. Each Hordika carries two tools, which make effective weapons. These tools can also charge up their Rhotuka spinners to high levels of energy.
