About Me

December 22, 2008

Welcome!

I am an undergraduate member of the class of 2010, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Arts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with two minors, Games and Simulation Arts and Sciences and Music. My background, however, is fundamentally studio art and illustration. I made the jump to electronic media through vector based images, working at first from a 2D perspective. A lot of my work focuses on this: combining aspects of illustration with traditional media, and realizing it in electronic media. From there I made the naturally progressive towards animation and 3D modeling.

Since I could affored them, I have marvelled at the power of videogames as a creative medium. I think we are barely scratching the surface of the ways in which interactive media can influence and immerse their audiences. Videogames and other forms of interactive media deserve consideration as works of art, just as much as film or animation. When I began working with electronic media, it had always been part of my goal, to see my skills put use to work in this field, and at Rensselaer I have had the opportunity to do so.

I recently completed an internship at 1st Playable Games in Troy, NY as an assisstant artist, where I worked on my first professional produced and published game. I also worked on a research project, called CapAbility Games, that created an interactive grocery store for people with physical disabilities. The goal of the project was to offer players a chance to explore an environment unhindered by physical limitations, while teaching the process required for selecting a meal and gathering the necessary ingredients. Our new project is to create a financial simulation for everything from managing credit bills to maintaining a budget.

Thanks for taking the time to get to know a little bit more about me. Now take a look at my work and decide for yourself!
