General Facility Information
Gaerttner Laboratory houses all of the facilities used in this course. There are two main parts of the labs used for this course; the first is the NEEP Lab room which houses most of the experimental setups used in the various experiments, and the second is the Linear Accelerator (LINAC). The NEEP Lab houses the majority of the experiments done in this course. It is a single large laboratory room with several computer setups, as well as various power supply and amplier devices and radiation detector devices. The LINAC used in this course is housed within Gaerttner Labs as well, taking up agreat deal of the building. It is a powerful linear accelerator, with an electron beam in excess of 60 MeV. It is used for both research and commercial applications. It was recently brought back to full operation at 60 MeV through the efforts of a number of people. |
