A wealth of fascinating information can be found in the exhibits at Troy's
RiverSpark Visitor Center:
- An award-winning twenty-minute slide show explains the
international significance of the area's industrial heritage.
- Artifacts and interactive exhibits tell the story of specific
highlights such as the world-famous Burden Water Wheel, the most
powerful vertical water wheel in history and in all likelihood
the model for the
world's first Ferris Wheel.

- An electronic map of the 28-mile Hudson-Mohawk Heritage Trail
highlights some of the many sites and attractions in the
Hudson-Mohawk Heritage Area.
- A self-guided walking tour of historic downtown Troy begins
right outside the front door.
- A touch-screen information center guides visitors to local
historic sites, special events, and shops and services.
- Brochures describe local attractions, shopping, entertainment,
dining, and lodging.
- Free bicycle rentals ($20 refundable deposit and photo identification
required) for exploring Troy are available.
