P. Thomas Carroll's Graph of the Minimum Wage



This graph plots the minimum wage against inflation since the 1930s. It shows rather dramatically that, even with the two-stage increase passed into law in 1996, the minimum wage still lags seriously behind inflation. It also shows that Congress had maintained the minimum wage at about the same level from the Depression until Ronald Reagan became President.
