Core

The cognitive systems engineer draws on a broad understanding of information processing and human cognition. All students in the program therefore take this quartet:

1.
Artificial Intelligence & Heuristics (66.615) or Fuzzy Sets and Expert Systems (35.671)
2.
Cognitive Engineering (56.696)
3.
Neural Networks (35.672) or Computational Intelligence (DSES 4810)
4.
Logic and Artificial Intelligence (48.624)

The student must complete one of the following three disciplinary perspectives. These perspectives will set the obtained degree within the program as an MS in in psychology, MEng in engineering, or MS/MAppS in computer science, respectively.

a
Statistical Design for Behavioral Sciences I (56.657)
$\:\:$Statistical Design for Behavioral Sciences II (56.658)
b
Software Engineering I (35.677)
$\:\:$Software Engineering II (35.678)
c
Introduction to Computability, Formal Languages, and Automata (66.405)
$\:\:$Systems Programming (66.431)
