Housing Coordinator Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
The Office of International Services for Students and Scholars (ISSS) plans to hire one housing coordinator for the Fall 2005 orientation. A car and insurance is a MUST. The Housing Coordinator will be responsible for becoming acquainted with the Welcome Packet information in order to be a backup to the Arrival Coordinators and be able to answer the most common questions asked by new students: Where to eat, how to open a bank account, where is my department located, etc.
The Housing Coordinator will also be responsible for:
• Maintaining a master list of housing opportunities with variables
regarding size, cost, location, restrictions, lease information, etc.
• Taking students when necessary to view apartments.
• Help new students to find suitable housing.
• Providing assistance with luggage and basic settling in needs in student
dorms, or apartments. .
• Be familiar with telephone and utility installation information.
The Housing Coordinator is expected to participate in ALL Orientation Activities. He/She will act as a backup person for the Arrival Coordinators during peak hours. Will also be responsible to provide the ISSS Office with a written evaluation of the Orientation Program by the Friday following Orientation.
Time Commitment
In order to be considered for this position you must be available for all of the dates/times stated above.
Stipend - $500.00 (Mileage reimbursement will be given when driving students to see apartments - accurate record is required).
Qualifications
Students must have been enrolled for at least two semesters at Rensselaer and
have attended the Orientation program when he/she first arrived at Rensselaer.
He/She must also have good knowledge of the English Language, good communication
skills, willingness to help students from all over the world, and possess a
sense of responsibility and commitment. Preference will be given to students
who have volunteered for past orientations.
