Update Address

Make sure you update your new local address in the Student Information System (SIS). This information is very important.

Assessing the Career Development Needs of International Students

ISSS Office, Career Development Center, and an international student have a survey they would like you to fill out. This is anonymous and the results will be used only to help better meet the needs of the international students.

To access the survey click here.

Rensselaer Ice Hockey Game

Want to go to a Rensselaer Hockey game with friends? The ISSS Office has a block of tickets for the Rensselaer vs. Army on Saturday, October 28, 2000 at 7:00pm at the Houston Field House. You can purchase tickets from the ISSS Office in the Troy Building 4th level for $4.25 per ticket.

For more information call the ISSS Office at 276-6561 or send e-mail to havisj@rpi.edu

Driving Tip

When you turn on your windshield wipers because of rain or snow, you must turn on your headlights. It is the law.

International Festival

Mark your calendar, the International Festival will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2000. If you want to know how to get involved email Jane Havis, or talk to your club and see how you can help.

American Slang

"don't have a cow" - this means don't be so uptight about something (a comment); to lighten up because it was only a joke. It is used when someone is kidding with another person, and that person gets a little offended.

Personal Safety Tip

A student was hit by a car while crossing the street two weeks ago around 8:30pm. It was just starting to get dark. He was wearing a dark shirt and dark pants. He saw the car but the driver did not see him. If you are out at night, wear clothing that are light in color (example white). Put a reflective strip on your backpack so that the driver can see it.

Be safe, when crossing the street even if you are in a cross-walk. Make sure the car is stopping before you enter the street.

2002 Diversity Immigrant Visa Program (DV-2002)

The U.S. diversity immigration program makes available a maximum of 55,000 permanent residence visas each year to persons meeting the eligibility requirements. Applicants for diversity visas are initially chosen through a random computer-generated lottery drawing. If you are interested, you can find more information from their homepage. http://travel.state.gov/dv2002vb.html

ExxonMobil International Recruiting

My name is Azrina and I am the ExxonMobil International Recruiting Consultant. My responsibility is to recruit international students for home country employment. Students must be citizens of that country in order to be considered for our ExxonMobil affiliate of that particular country. We have openings per attached matrix (Angola, Cameroon, Chad, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Colombia, Indonesia, Singapore and Belgium).

All graduating students are invited to send in their resumes directly to me or to the ExxonMobil Recruiting team during the career fair. We do require a minimum CGPA of 3.2 and will not be able to offer any internship opportunities.

We also have scholarship available for students from Angola, Chad and Cameroon.
