Honoring Achievement: Alumni Hall of Fame To Induct Newest Honorees
Eight new members will be inducted into Rensselaers 2003 Alumni Hall of Fame on Friday, Sept. 19 at a private dinner ceremony at the Heffner Alumni House. They include Howard Isermann 42, sunscreen developer and Rensselaer trustee; Robert Resnick, world-famous physics educator; J. Christopher Jaffe 49, international acoustician; Myles Brand 64, leader in higher education; and Lois Graham 46, leader in engineering education.
Inducted posthumously this year are astronaut John Swigert Jr. 65, steel entrepreneur Walter Irving, Class of 1896, and geologist Douglass Houghton, Class of 1829.
Etched windows commemorating the accomplishments of the new members will be added to those lining Thomsen Hall in the Darrin Communications Center.
The Rensselaer Alumni Association (RAA) created the Alumni Hall of Fame in 1995 to preserve and celebrate the exceptional heritage of alumni accomplishments throughout the years. Since Rensselaers founding in 1824, distinguished alumni and leaders of the Institute have forged frontiers in industry, science, education, and technology. The newest class of inductees brings to 49 the number of members in the Hall of Fame.
