  Rensselaer Receives $22.5 Million To Create Center for Bioengineering and Medicine

GenNYsis CenterNew York State Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno was on campus Thursday, Sept. 26, to announce that Rensselaer will receive $22.5 million to create the Gen*NY*sis Center for Bioengineering and Medicine. The research center will be housed in Rensselaer's new Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies, which is currently under construction on the Troy campus. More

Jane Van Ryan To Head Office of Communications

President Jackson has named Jane Van Ryan, principal of VanRyanBanks Inc. of Reston, Va. as assistant vice president for communications. Van Ryan will lead the Office of Communications (formerly the Office of Marketing and Media Relations), which includes media relations, marketing, publications, presidential communications, and university events. She will report directly to David Haviland '64, vice president of Institute Advancement, and will have a dotted-line relationship to the Office of the President. More

Alan Eckbreth '76, the new vice president and dean of Rensselaer at Hartford, will have an opportunity to meet the Hartford faculty and staff on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. when he will be formally welcomed to Rensselaer at an in-house reception hosted by President Jackson. More

Celebrate the Season at Third Annual Fall Fest

Rensselaer's Office of the First Year Experience (FYE) is commemorating the transition to autumn on Saturday, Oct. 5 with Fall Fest, a free communiversity event for Rensselaer and the general public. The third annual street festival will take place from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Louis Rubin Memorial Approach on Eighth Street. More

Start-Up Specialists Kick Off Biotechnology Entrepreneurship Series

Rensselaer's budding biotech entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to hear expert business advice at a series of lectures being presented on campus this year. The 2002-2003 Biotechnology Management and Entrepreneurship Seminar Series will focus on the wide range of issues that companies in biotechnology face today. More

NSBE/SHPE Career Fair This Week

For the past 24 years the NSBE/SHPE Career Fair has reigned as one of the largest student-run job fairs in the nation. This year's Career Fair will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 and Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Alumni Sports and Recreation Center (Armory). More

Low Gallery Dedication

Low DedicationRensselaer celebrated the grand opening of the George M. Low Gallery on Friday, Sept. 27. Low's family toured the facility privately before a formal dedication ceremony for the campus community.

George Low '48, Rensselaer's 14th president, led the Apollo Spacecraft Program that successfully landed man on the moon. A collection of his space memorabilia, donated to Rensselaer by the family, is on display in the newly designed gallery. The George M. Low Gallery is located on the fourth floor of the Low Center for Industrial Innovation. More
