Members of the Rensselaer at Hartford
community gathered at the flagpoles on the grounds of the Hartford
campus for a moving ceremony commemorating September 11, 2001.
The program included the Presentation of Colors; singing of the
National Anthem and America the Beautiful; and remarks by Worth
Loomis, professor of faith and public life, Hartford Seminary,
and president emeritus, The Hartford Graduate Center; and Alan
C. Eckbreth, Ph.D., vice president and dean, Rensselaer at Hartford.
A ceremonial candle was lit and the community commemorated the
day by planting a dogwood tree, symbolizing the continuity of
life.
