Accenture To Host
This Year's Archer Center Leadership Conference Students will have the opportunity to
choose morning and afternoon educational sessions led by key Accenture
employees. Topics range from "Job-Seeking From an Employer's
Perspective" to "Corporate Strategies for Building Effective
Teams" and "Consulting 101: A Day in the Life." "The Archer Center is so proud of
this conference because it offers students the unique opportunity
to network with these executives while experiencing leadership training
from corporate professionals," says Linda McCloskey, director
of the Archer Center. Past leadership conferences have attracted
more than 250 students and have been hosted by corporations such as
Lucent, IBM, and Lockheed Martin, among others.
Rensselaer at Hartford To Welcome New VP and Dean Oct. 10
Various local merchants and community organizations
will have booths offering refreshments and more. And area elementary
and middle-school students will be hard at work on their gumdrop projects
for "ZOOM into Engineering," a program sponsored by the
Junior Museum, public television station WGBH, and Rensselaer that
is aimed at getting kids excited about careers in engineering.
Season Hockey Tickets
on Sale Sept. 17 Season tickets will be on sale at the Field House box office until Thursday, Oct. 10. The season begins on Friday, Oct. 11 and the first home game is on Friday, Oct. 18 against UMass Lowell. 9/16/02
Low Gallery Dedication Sept. 27 Rensselaer will celebrate the grand opening of the
George M. Low Gallery on Friday, Sept. 27 at 5 p.m. All members of
the campus community are invited to attend. George Low '48, Rensselaer's 14th president, led the
Apollo Spacecraft Program that successfully landed man on the moon.
Low died in 1984. A collection of his space memorabilia, donated to
Rensselaer by his widow, Mary R Low, will be on permanent display
in the newly designed gallery. The George Low Gallery, formerly known
as the Low Lounge, is located in the Low Center for Industrial Innovation. A dedication ceremony will be held on Friday, Sept
27, at 5 p.m. in the RPI Playhouse. Gallery tours will immediately
follow the ceremony.
Star Gazing at the Hirsch The Hirsch Observatory will be open for Public Observing
every Wednesday and Friday through the second week in December, weather
permitting. The Observatory will be open from sunset until three hours
