Statement From
Joe Albert, Director of the Counseling Center
"We
are all in a state of shock over the events taking place in
our nation.
Many
of us are fearful about the safety of loved ones in New York
City and Washington D.C., or the well being of others affected
by the tragedy of Sept. 11. The impact of a day like this
will hit some of us right away and others at a later time.
Also, be aware that it is very normal to feel upset, angry,
and frightened over such events, even if we do not personally
know someone directly affected. Now more than ever we need
to be available to each other."
The
staff of the Counseling Center, located in the Gallagher Health
Center (Infirmary), is available to provide support to anyone
from the community who would like assistance. They are available
to meet with people on an individual basis or in groups. For
an appointment, call 276-6479 or e-mail counseling@rpi.edu
or alberj@rpi.edu.
A staff member also will be on call after office hours and
can be reached by calling the office of Public Safety at 276-6656.
