Statement from
Rensselaer's Chaplains 9/11/01
None of the great
religious traditions of the world condone senseless, wanton
violence against any of God's creations. These same traditions
also tell us that only when we address the causes of violence
can there be justice that would allow true peace to blossom.
In addition, to condemn a group of people based on the actions
of individuals from that group is unacceptable.
These days are
very difficult, so we pray. First, we pray for those who have
died and their families and friends. Next, our hearts and
thoughts turn to the injured, their families, the rescue workers,
and the world. May each of us turn to our faith lives as we
seek strength to be the compassionate, forgiving, loving people
we are all called to be by our God.
