  John J. McDonnell '61 Named Rensselaer Entrepreneur of the Year
 

John J. McDonnell Jr. '61 has been named the 2002 William F. Glaser '53 Rensselaer Entrepreneur of the Year by the Severino Center for Technological Entrepreneurship at Rensselaer's Lally School of Management and Technology. McDonnell is the founder, chairman, and CEO of Transaction Network Services (TNS) in Reston, Va.

A celebration in McDonnell's honor will be held at the Heffner Alumni House from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8. More

 

New Bleachers on '86 Field To Be Unveiled Nov. 2

As part of the overall effort to upgrade and improve campus facilities, the Institute has constructed permanent bleachers on the '86 Field. Designed to accommodate nearly 1,000 fans, the new bleachers offer better views of the playing field, access for the disabled, and a press box for media and game personnel. Campus is invited to a festive Family Weekend celebration of the new facility on Saturday, Nov. 2, during halftime of the Rensselaer vs. St. John Fisher football game. Kickoff for that game is 1 p.m. More

"Imaginary Homelands": Woodstock Exhibit Represents Work of Rensselaer Students

The Center of Photography in Woodstock, N.Y., will present "Imaginary Homelands," a digital art exhibit being organized by Rensselaer digital artist Kathleen Ruiz and featuring the work of four Rensselaer students. The exhibit, on display Nov. 2-Dec. 22, is the work of nine artists from Ghana, Latvia, Israel, Malaysia, Spain, America, Brazil, and Bulgaria. It comprises digital photography, video, and a Web-based interactive sculpture. More

Honors Convocation to Celebrate Academic Achievements
Nov. 1

Rensselaer's ninth annual Honors Convocation will be held Friday, Nov. 1, at 4 p.m. in the Alumni Sports and Recreation Center (Armory). The event, for the entire campus community, honors students and faculty for their outstanding academic achievements. More

Conference Addresses America's Future in Nuclear Engineering and Research

The future of education in nuclear sciences and engineering brings a large contingent of experts to New York's Capital Region today (Monday, Oct. 28) for a major conference at the Desmond Hotel and Conference Center. Rensselaer Start-ups Present at National Venture Forum

Three companies that got their start in the Rensselaer Incubator have been selected to present their business plans to venture capitalists, angel investors, bankers, and private lenders at one of the country's largest and most important clean energy venture forums. Crystal IS Inc., Starfire Systems Inc., and Ecosystem Projects LLC will pitch to businessmen at the 15th annual National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Industry Growth Forum Oct. 29 and 30 at the Desmond Hotel in Albany. Student Senate Holds Student Life Forum

The Student Life Committee of Rensselaer's Student Senate convened its first forum of the year Oct. 23. Approximately 50 students, administrators, and members of the Senate attended the gathering to explore public safety, the Red Hawk Shuttle, and campus parking issues. More
