Student Life Forum Set for Oct. 23
Rensselaer's Student Senate has slated the first
Student Life Forum of the year for Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m.
in the McNeil Room of the Rensselaer Union. Students, faculty,
and staff are encouraged to attend.
Coordinated by the Senate's Student Life Committee,
the event will provide participants the opportunity to discuss
parking, shuttle service, public safety, and residence hall matters
with members of the President's Cabinet, the Student Senate, and
Student Life.
"The forum is just a way to get administrators
and students in direct communication so we can solve those
small problems, and then discuss the resolution of larger
problems."

"While the administrators know about some
of the bigger issues like parking and construction, they sometimes
aren't necessarily aware of some of the smaller things,"
said Anna Batorsky '04, a member of the Student Life Committee
who is helping organize the forum. "They can't fix the big
ones right away, but those smaller issues like a trash
can where there tends to be a lot of litter, or a place to put
cigarette butts can sometimes be dealt with immediately.
The forum is just a way to get administrators and students in
direct communication so we can solve those small problems, and
then discuss the resolution of larger problems."
The Student Senate serves as the main voice of
both undergraduate and graduate students. It works to oversee
other groups in the Rensselaer Union and keep the university's
faculty and administration apprised of all student concerns and
opinions. The Student Life Committee's purpose is to increase
the quality of life for all students at Rensselaer.
