Rensselaer faculty and students are attracting
the attention of the national press:
The
South China Morning Post carried an editorial
by Denis Simon, dean of Rensselaer's Lally School of Management.
The U.S.-China Security Review Commission
is missing a golden opportunity to harness China's emerging
brainpower, says Simon. "Simply engaging China is
not enough. The U.S. must propose marriage."
Business
Week featured the breakthrough nanotechnology
work of Pulickel Ajayan, a professor of materials science
and engineering at Rensselaer, in its "Developments
to Watch."
Pulickel Ajayan has discovered a molecular-scale
welding method that may be the first step in creating
ultra-strong materials or tiny chip circuitry.
The Boston Globe* profiled
Erin Crocker '03, the "winningest" female driver
in the history of Empire Super Sprints.
Crocker, an engineering student at Rensselaer,
is the only woman in the division. She ranks seventh among
a field of 75 drivers and aspires to a career as an Indy
car racer.
