Admissions Open House

A record number of prospective students and their families converged on Rensselaer Nov. 8 for the fall recruiting weekend, hosted by Undergraduate Admissions. During the weekend, 2,500 prospective students and their families were given the opportunity to participate in campus tours, open houses, academic presentations, and an activities fair. They were also given the opportunity to attend sessions on the admissions and financial aid process, the Career Development Center, as well as a “Life at Rensselaer” panel discussion.

The open house was the culmination of a three-day minority student weekend, where more than 75 prospective minority students got a first-hand glimpse of campus life by staying in residence halls with current students.

Overall, said Teresa Duffy, dean of enrollment management, the recruiting weekend was an astounding success. The number of prospective students participating in the events jumped 10 percent compared to last year, and total attendance rose an impressive 16 percent.
