Obituary: Lally Professor Robert McDonald
Robert McDonald, a clinical assistant professor
in the Lally School of Management and Technology, died Oct. 29.
"We at the Lally School share a tremendous
loss at Rob McDonald's passing. He was a committed teacher and
scholar and he will be sorely missed by his students and colleagues,"
said Denis Simon, dean of the Lally School."
"The Rensselaer community is deeply saddened
by the death of Professor Robert McDonald," said President
Jackson. "His passing is a great loss to our university where
he has been held in high esteem by students and colleagues. Our
sincerest sympathy goes out to Professor McDonald's family and
his many friends."
A memorial service will be held at the Chapel
+ Cultural Center Wednesday, Nov. 6, beginning at 9 a.m. A reception
will follow.
McDonald earned a Ph.D. in organizational studies
from the University at Albany, an MBA from the University of Windsor,
and bachelor's degrees from the University of Windsor and McMaster
University. His focus area was organizational behavior and applied
statistics. Research interests include multi-source performance
appraisals, leadership training, ethical decision-making, influence
tactics, and structural equations modeling.
McDonald's research was presented at many conferences,
including the Academy of Management, Eastern Academy of Management,
Southern Management Association, Southwest Academy of Management,
Southeast Decision Sciences, Society for Industrial and Organizational
Psychology, and American Psychological Society. His research has
been published in numerous management journals, including Organizational
Research Methods, Journal of Business Ethics, and Teaching
Business Ethics.
