Businesswomen to Discuss Entrepreneurship at
Rensselaer

On Wednesday, Nov. 13, five successful businesswomen
will explore the role of entrepreneurship in start-ups and corporations
at the first Women in Entrepreneurship Seminar.

female student population and area businesswomen a feel for
real-world entrepreneurship, and show them why they should
consider the 'road less traveled.'''

The free event, titled "Risks Taken
Lessons Learned," will take place from 8 a.m. to noon in
the Russell Sage Dining Hall , and is open to the public. It will
be hosted by the Severino Center for Technological Entrepreneurship
at Rensselaer's Lally School of Management and Technology.
The morning's activities will begin with a networking
breakfast, followed by a welcome address delivered by Mary Bayly
'79, vice president of business development for Saratoga Technology
Accelerator. Later, Sheila Talton, Rensselaer board member and
president of change management service line for EDS' Solutions
Consulting, will discuss entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship
in the corporate environment.
The seminar will end with a panel discussion of
innovation and entrepreneurship. Keri Calagna '02, CFO for Tiercent
Corporation; Jeannette Oppedisano '92, educator/author; and Alethea
Snyder, president/cofounder of the Tech Valley Angel Network will
participate.

Lally School. "By sharing their personal experiences and
wisdom, the speakers will shed light on what it takes to achieve
entrepreneurial success in today's technology-focused environment.
Women who want to own businesses or play innovative roles within
large companies will learn about the corporate environment, the
climb, the risks, and the possible outcomes."
