Managing the Reservoir of Nuclear Knowledge and Expertise: A Three-Way Collaboration
DOE/NEI/Rensselaer Conference (Oct. 28, 2002)

"Like any highly technical endeavour, the application of nuclear science relies heavily on a vast accumulation of knowledge. . . That knowledge must be combined with an immense and complex reservoir of people - scientists, engineers, business people, attorneys, and others from many disciplines . . .

"The continued availability of this essential reservoir of qualified personnel is critical to ensuring nuclear safety and security, encouraging nuclear innovation, and making certain that the benefits of nuclear energy — related not only to power generation, but also to nuclear medicine, industrial radiology, and a host of other nuclear applications - remain available for future generations." "In sum, transformation has become the new reality for Rensselaer. We have articulated a clear vision and a developed a visionary plan to achieve it. Our aspirations are high. Our constituencies are on board. The right structure is in place. Our leadership team is energized and their enthusiasm — and, I hope my own — is catching, and is catching on. Full Speech
