Alumni Hall of Fame Nominations
The Rensselaer Alumni Hall of Fame is designed to permanently preserve, celebrate, and widely communicate the long and exceptional heritage of Rensselaer. The accomplishments of the members of the Alumni Hall of Fame, who now number 41, are celebrated in etched windows that line Thomsen Hall in the Darrin Communications Center.

Nominations for the 2003 induction class are now being accepted. Nomination information can be found online at http://www.alumni.rpi.edu/Take_note/hofnom.html.

At this site, you will find a summary of the program, a nominations form, and a link to the current members of the Rensselaer Alumni Hall of Fame.

Nominations are due by Feb. 28, 2002.

All nominations will be researched, rated by a selection committee for inclusion on the ballot, voted on by the balloting committee, and validated by the selection committee, which consists of alumni, students, faculty, staff, administrators, and trustees. The inductees will be announced during Reunion 2003, with recognition of these inductees at a public ceremony in the fall of 2003.

Rensselaer at Hartford Receives Matching Equipment Donation from Sun Microsystems
Rensselaer at Hartford has received a matching equipment donation worth approximately $97,000 from Sun Microsystems for the purchase of computer hardware as part of the Sun Academic Initiative. In addition, Sun Microsystems has provided a substantial discount to Rensselaer toward the purchase of a new student file server.
The matching equipment donation enables Hartford to double its purchase of 12 SUN Ultra 10 Model 440 workstations for a total of 24 workstations for use in Rensselaer at Hartford computer classrooms and labs. In addition, Hartford will purchase an E220R server to be used for Rensselaer's bioinformatics courses and a disk storage array to be used for student files. The Sun Microsystems equipment donations are available to academic institutions on a first-come, first-served basis.

"These additions to the Rensselaer technology infrastructure will have significant impact on several areas including load balancing for improved response time, student access to the latest Sun equipment in classrooms and general labs, and additional storage space for students," said Brian Clement, chief information officer, technical and information services at Rensselaer at Hartford. 11/26/10
