Sydney Ross, professor emeritus of
chemistry, has just edited a new publication titled (HERSCHEL,
Sir William & Sir John F.W.) The Catalogue of the Herschel
Library, compiled by Isabella Herschel. This book is
based on the manuscript catalogue of the library formed
by William Herschel (1738-1822) and his son, John Herschel
(1792-1871), prepared and written by the latter's daughter,
Isabella (1831-93) in 1889. The Herschel family established
a dynasty in British astronomy that lasted for four generations.

Tom Torello, director of marketing,
was a speaker at the 12th annual Symposium for the Marketing
of Higher Education, sponsored by the American Marketing
Association, in Denver Nov. 11-13. Torello's talk was "Finding
that Special Someone: Conducting a Search for an Agency
of Record." More than 400 marketing professionals attended

Katrin Wesner, health systems manager
in the Student Health Center, recently co-chaired the U.S.
Department of Education's 15th Annual National Meeting on
Alcohol, Other Drug, and Violence Prevention in Higher Education
held Nov. 8-11 in Arlington, Va. The national conference
examines issues around alcohol, other drugs, and violence
on college campuses and in their surrounding communities.
