A number of events have been planned in
celebration of the 100th anniversary of Rensselaer ice hockey,
including a raffle for the "Rensselaer Ultimate Hockey
Fan" package that includes a commemorative game jersey,
signed hockey stick, Rensselaer baseball cap, and two season
tickets to the 2002-2003 season.
Head coach Dan Fridgen has commissioned
a jersey similar to the ones worn by the 1953-54 team. Replete
with a commemorative logo and patch, the game jerseys will
be unveiled at the Big Red Freakout on Feb. 9 when the Engineers
battle Clarkson.
Everyone attending Rensselaer's home hockey
games is eligible to win the "Ultimate Hockey Fan"
package. Beginning Nov. 17, one ticket will be drawn from
each period of every home game (in addition to the 50-50
raffle). A total of four winners per night each will receive
a pair of tickets to the season's final home game and they
will be entered into the grand-prize drawing for the "Rensselaer
Ultimate Hockey Fan" package. That drawing will take
place at the Rensselaer-Colgate season finale on Saturday,
March 2.
This year's Satellite Hockey telecasts have
increased to more than 60 sites across the country. For
the Big Red Freakout and Ice House, the broadcasts will
include live alumni hockey player introductions and footage
from the Ice House. Additionally, commemorative hats will
be given to the first 200 fans to register for the Freakout
Ice House and the first 200 people to register for Satellite
Hockey. To register and for more special event information,
