Brendan Harnett and Michelle Myers, fifth-year architecture students at Rensselaer who received awards in an international juried competition for their original design of a mobile HIV/AIDS health clinic, will have their work featured in an exhibition at the A+D Museum in Los Angeles. The exhibit of winning designs from Architecture for Humanity's latest design competition opened March 18 and will be on display until May 30. Chung Kim ’99, a producer in professional and distance education and iEAR graduate, recently had two works accepted into the internationally recognized ACM SIGGRAPH Conference Art Gallery, one of the world’s largest computer graphics conferences/exhibitions. Kim’s works will be part of “CG03: Computer Graphics 2003” exhibition, which will be on display during the annual SIGGRAPH Conference, July 27-31 in San Diego, Calif. E. Bruce Watson, Institute Professor of Science, is listed on ISIHighlyCited.com, a free Web site that gives research professionals working in a variety of occupations a tool to identify individuals, departments, and laboratories that have made fundamental contributions to the advancement of science and technology in recent decades. ISIHighlyCited.com includes people in 21 broad subject categories in life sciences, medicine, physical sciences, engineering, and social sciences. The individuals listed are the most highly cited within each category for the period 1981-1999, and comprise less than one-half of one percent of all publishing researchers. Watson is listed in the geosciences category. 3/17/03

The Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association (UCAA) has announced its year-end basketball award winners and three Rensselaer student-athletes have been recognized. Junior guard Kristin Kaczynski was named to the Women's Basketball First Team while teammate Kaitlyn Saunders, a sophomore guard, earned Second Team honors. On the men's side, junior forward Jared Hite was selected to the All-UCAA Second Team

Also, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its ECAC East women's hockey year-end award winners and eight players from Rensselaer were recognized. Among them were sophomore Julie Vallarelli, who was named the Goaltender of the Year, freshman Julie Welte, who won the Rookie of the Year Award, and head coach Bill Cahill, who was honored as the 2002-03 Coach of the Year.

In addition, Vallarelli and sophomore defenseman Lane Dielwart were selected to the All-ECAC East First Team. Co-captains Christin Sauca, a forward, and Sara Riel, a defenseman, were named to the Second Team while Welte, Kari Rabatin, a defenseman, and Rosina Schiff, a goaltender, were chosen to the ECAC East All-Rookie Team. Kristin Kaczynski, an information technology and management dual major, has been selected to the 2002-03 Verizon District 1 College Division Women's Basketball All-Academic First Team as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Kaczynski is now eligible for National Verizon Academic All-American honors. A junior captain from Pleasant Valley, Conn., she currently leads Rensselaer in scoring (17.1 points per game), steals (58), and minutes (30.9 per game). She also has 74 rebounds (3.5 per game), 45 assists, and three blocks in 22 games for the Red Hawks. Kaczynski, who is also a member of Rensselaer's lacrosse team, has led the basketball team to a 14-8 overall record and an 8-4 UCAA mark. 3/3/03

William Luddy Jr. '74 and Peter Schroth '88, both professors in the Lally School of Management and Technology at Rensselaer at Hartford, were named co-editors-in-chief of the Journal of Legal Studies in Business, a blind-peer-reviewed journal with a national circulation and over 700 subscribing libraries. 3/3/03

Audrey Bennett, assistant professor of language, literature, and communication, was elected to the Board of Directors of the American Institute of Graphic Arts, Upstate New York Chapter, for a two-year term from 2002 to 2004. 2/24/03
