Program Connects
Rensselaer With High School Students
The New VisionsMathematics/Engineering/
Technology/Sciences (METS) program, in its second year,
is a collaboration between Rensselaer's Center for Initiatives
in Pre-College Education (CIPCE) and Questar III. The program
provides hands-on, college-level experience to high school
students considering a college major in math, engineering,
information technology, or science. More
Teaching Computers
To Replace Lost Sounds
Mike Savic, professor of electrical, computer, and systems
engineering, is teaching computers to reconstruct damaged
speech and recover missing sounds, some of which cannot
even be heard. More
GE Fund Supports Several
Rensselaer Initiatives
Victor Abate '86, general manager of steam turbine technology
at GE Power Systems and a Rensselaer Key Executive, was
on campus Feb. 25 to distribute $260,000 in grant monies
from the GE Fund. More

The
Rensselaer Board of Trustees has set undergraduate and graduate
tuition at $26,400 for the 2002-2003 academic year. The
6.37 percent increase in tuition reflects the growing cost
of providing a world-class technological education at Rensselaer.
