Space Traveler Dennis Tito To Speak at Commencement

Rensselaer alumnus Dennis Tito, the first tourist to go to International Space Station, will be the featured speaker at Rensselaer's 196th Commencement ceremonies on May 18.

Tito, founder and chief executive of Wilshire Associates, will be awarded an honorary doctorate of engineering from Rensselaer.

Rensselaer also will bestow honorary doctoral degrees on Bobby Farrelly '81, Claire Fraser '77, and Ruth Simmons. More

Johannes Goebel Named To Lead Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center
Rensselaer has chosen Johannes Goebel, a respected curator and renowned composer of electronic music, to lead the university's experimental media and performing arts center. Goebel is the founding director of Germany's Institute for Music and Acoustics (IMA) at the Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie (ZKM) in Karlsruhe. More

Prague Artist Creates Electronic Music Installation in Troy
The campus is invited to experience Czech Republic artist Martin Janicek's electronic arts presentation that combines natural acoustic sounds with amplified and manipulated sounds of contemporary technology. Janícek's demonstration will take place Wednesday, April 3, at 8 p.m. at a studio located at 623 River St. in Troy. More
