RAA Teaching Award:
Mark Mistur
The Rensselaer Alumni Association (RAA)
will honor Mark Mistur ’83 with the 2003 RAA Teaching
Award during its RAA Awards Dinner on June 13. The dinner
is part of Reunion Weekend 2003. Mistur is associate dean
of the School of Architecture and clinical associate professor
of architecture. He received a bachelor’s degree in
building science in 1982, a bachelor’s degree in architecture
in 1983, and a master’s degree in building conservation
in 2003, all from Rensselaer.
According
to the RAA, letters of recommendation for Mistur detailed
his dedication to students, faculty, and Rensselaer as a
whole. He was praised for incorporating political, social,
economic, and cultural issues into his teaching, and for
being a leader in integrating schools and disciplines across
the Institute. He was recognized for his sense of values,
wit, and insight, and his acumen as an adviser, teacher,
and leader.
The RAA Teaching Award was created in 1994
by the Rensselaer Alumni Association Board of Trustees and
is designed to recognize current members of the Rensselaer
faculty for their outstanding teaching techniques, contributions
to the campus experience, and commitment to students. One
award is presented each year.
