Senator Clinton Calls for Creation of New York Research Coalition

Rensselaer
and the Business Council of New York State will take the lead in bringing together a coalition of private sector institutions to increase federal research dollars for projects in the Empire State. The partnership, to be called The New York Research Coalition, was announced at Rensselaer, Monday, June 24, by Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY). More

Steffen Named Coach of the Year
The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) has selected Rensselaer head baseball coach Karl Steffen as the New York Region Coach of the Year. Steffen, who recently completed his 18th season at Rensselaer, led the team to a school-record 33 wins (33-11) and its second-ever Division III World Series appearance. More

Rensselaer Welcomes Class of 2006
Another exceptional group of students will enter Rensselaer this fall. The Class of 2006 boasts an average SAT score of 1312, up from last year's record 1308 average, and 64 percent of the students were in the top 10 percent of their high school class. In fact, 32 enrolling students scored 800 on the math SAT examination, 13 achieved an 800 verbal score, and two had a perfect 1600! More

Heading to Hedley? Take the Shuttle!
A free shuttle bus, known as the "Red Hawk shuttle," is now operating between campus and the Hedley Building on River Street, where a large number of the Institute Advancement staff has been relocated. Anyone with a Rensselaer ID can ride the shuttle, which is operated by the Department of Public Safety. More


Global Engineering Program Makes Major Strides
At the recent annual meeting of the Global Engineering Education Exchange (Global E3) held in June in Munich, Germany, university presidents, industry executives, and high-level government representatives discussed how to further increase global opportunities for undergraduate engineering students.
