"A global course exchange would allow program-based students global access to world-class professors in their leading disciplines," said Gerhardt. At a soon-anticipated 300 students a year, the Global E3 will represent about 10 percent of the international undergraduate engineering exchanges in the U.S. Women make up 40 percent of the students in the program, double the percentage of women in undergraduate engineering programs, and also of those in the science and engineering workforce. In the next academic year, 10 Rensselaer students, four of them women, are expected to study in Europe. Three students will come to Rensselaer from Germany, Denmark, and France.
