The Associated Press (AP) writes
about Rensselaer's
"unique solution" for community renewal linked
with Institute revitalizationan idea President Jackson
has deemed "Communiversity." HUD recently awarded
Rensselaer $400,000 toward the initiative. In another wire
service release, AP writes about astrophysicist Heidi
Newberg's galactic discovery with the Sloan Digital Sky
Survey. She, along with Brian Yanny of Fermilab, uncovered
information that could lead to a new model of the Milky
Way.

Week named professors Jonathan Dordick and Martin
Glicksman '57 among 30 R&D "Stars to Watch."
The magazine says it "celebrates the contributions
of individuals who drive innovation and provide the initial
spark to economic growth."

the science of extracting vital information from huge storehouses
of biological data.
The
Hartford Courant quoted Alan Balfour, dean of
the School of Architecture, on the World Trade Center. The
towers, he said, represented "all the optimism and
ambition of the '70s."
A New
York Times article on the effects of technology
on culture featured Japanese-American dancer and ethnomusicologist
Tomie Hahn. Hahn uses a wireless interactive dance system
created by her husband, Curtis Bahn, assistant professor
of arts at Rensselaer.
