Rainey Appointed Acting Vice President
for Hartford
President Jackson has appointed David Rainey
'77 as acting vice president for Rensselaer at Hartford.
Rainey is a clinical associate professor and chair of the
Hartford Department of the Lally School of Management and
Technology.
Andrew Lemnios, who has served as interim
vice president for Rensselaer at Hartford since November
1999, has decided to accelerate the date of his planned
retirement.
In his capacity as acting vice president,
Rainey will work closely with Virginia Gregg, vice president
for finance, Curtis Powell, vice president for human resources,
and Bud Peterson, provost, on the day-to-day operation of
Rensselaer at Hartford. Rainey will also finalize the performance
plan and budget.
President Jackson has initiated a nationwide
search for the new position of vice president and dean at
Hartford. The new position will serve a broader role to
provide academic leadership for the engineering, science,
and management programs at Hartford. The new hire also will
have the responsibility for the overall operation and management
of the Hartford campus.
Lester Gerhardt, associate dean of engineering,
has been named chair of the search committee, which includes
faculty and staff members from both the Hartford and Troy
campuses. Boston executive search firm Isaacson, Miller
will augment the search committee's role.
Rainey has an M.S. in Engineering Science,
M.S. in Management, and Ph.D. in environmental studies from
Rensselaer. He has an MBA from Western New England College
and earned a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from the
University of Connecticut.
