To Be Examined in Town Hall Meeting
Lecture on Rising College
Costs Ehrenberg, the Ives Professor of Economics
at Cornell University, explores the causes of this tuition inflation
in his book of the same title, drawing on his many years as a teacher
and researcher of the economics of higher education and as a senior
administrator at Cornell University. Ehrenberg discusses a wide range
of topics, including endowment policies, admissions and financial aid
policies, the funding of research, tenure and the end of mandatory retirement,
information technology, libraries and distance learning, student housing,
and intercollegiate athletics. The lecture, sponsored by the Department
of Economics and the Division of Finance, will be held in Room 214 of
Amos Eaton. Light refreshments will be served at 3:30 p.m. 1/22/02
