Four-Digit Dialing Between Troy and Hartford Campuses

A new phone dialing system is now in place that allows callers between Rensselaer's Troy and Hartford campuses to dial the last four digits of any phone number.

Due to this update, some of the Troy and Hartford phone numbers have changed. They can be found at www.rpi.edu/dept/tele. You may also press zero from an on-campus phone for new phone number information. If you have problems or questions, contact Telecommunications at ext. 6258. 1/14/02

HR Continues Performance Management and Compensation Initiatives
During October and November, Curtis Powell, vice president for human resources, met with faculty and staff across campus to review the progress on the Performance Management, Compensation, and Training initiatives. The Division of Human Resources is working in conjunction with William M. Mercer, an international compensation consultant, to develop an Institutewide approach to compensation.

Human Resources held a series of Town Hall Meetings in January. During the meetings faculty and staff had the opportunity to meet the consultants from Mercer who provided an overview of the findings from leadership interviews, as well as pay design plans and major milestones to date.

New Campus Mail Label System
A new system has been developed for generating campus mail labels using data from the online campus directory. The system is expected to provide more accurate information for campus mailings.

Faculty and staff are responsible for keeping their information current in the online campus directory. Instructions for Faculty/Staff Directory Updates are located on the Networking and Telecommunications Web site.

Department administrators have been assigned to monitor and update departmental directory information. Division administrators are responsible for updating the deans, directors, and department heads mailing lists. Questions and comments can be directed to MAILSVS-L@lists.rpi.edu. 1/14/02

Dining Services Donates to Local Food Pantry
Rensselaer Dining Services, contracted by Sodexho Campus Services, conducted its annual Customer Satisfaction Survey this fall with the promise to student participants that, for every completed survey, they would donate $2 to the CEO Food Pantry of Troy. On Dec. 17, Dining Services management presented a check for $1,374 to the local food pantry.

Dining Services also has teamed up with Rensselaer students to provide meals to the homeless at the Joseph's House shelter in Troy. With the Sodexho chefs and managers acting as trainers, students learn to prepare and cook gourmet meals and help serve them to the needy at the shelter. The first of many planned dinners this year was successfully served, Dec. 5 at Joseph's House. 1/14/02
