Shelnutt Gallery Hosts Black History Month Exhibit The Rensselaer Union's Shelnutt Gallery is currently hosting "Transformations: An Exhibition to Honor Black History Month." The exhibition features works by Stanwyck Cromwell, Francelise Dawkins, Stephen Tyson, and Barbara Zuber. Sketches and drawings by Tahira Reid '00 of her Double Dutch jump rope invention also will be displayed. The exhibit will remain up until March 18. Grand Marshal Week Plans Under Way Grand Marshal Week 2003, a festive week of celebrations
and student elections, will be held April 4-11. The GM Week Committee
is developing a comprehensive schedule of the week's events, and asks
campus organizations, departments, and offices to contact them about
any activities planned for that week so they may develop an include
the events in the schedule. The deadline for submitting information
to the GM Week program book is Feb 28. Student clubs and organizations interested in planning an event for the week can go to http://gmweek.union.rpi.edu/EventForm.html for an event form. All requests are on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have questions, contact Arielle Doerle, GM Week Committee chair, at ext. 8688. 2/10/03
Energy Conservation Program Seeks
Logo Designs The Rensselaer Energy Conservation Program is sponsoring
a design contest to create a new logo for the program. The designer
of the winning logo will receive a check for $100. Other prizes include
compact fluorescent light bulbs and gift certificates to local businesses.
Entries and questions should be directed to Shawn Shaw, conservation coordinator in campus planning and facilities design, at shaws@rpi.edu or ext. 2036. All entries are due by March 14, in JPEG format. Logo designs should be easily readable at 4 inches by 4 inches. All designs should include the words "Rensselaer" and "Energy Conservation Program." Transitions Mary Dixey has been appointed
director of the Robert L. and Sara Marcy Cole Library at Rensselaer
at Hartford. Dixey earned a B.A. from the University of Connecticut
and an M.L.I.S. from Simmons College. Most recently, she served as
content manager of OneSource Information Services in Concord, Mass.,
and previously, as Business Information Specialist and Instructor
at Arthur D. Little School of Management in Chestnut Hill. The Cole Library provides users with information resources and services that focus on the areas of management, business, computer science, and engineering. Its specialized collection of print and electronic resources consists of over 30,000 volumes, over 400 print journals, a collection of special focus e-journals, and a variety of bibliographic and full-text, online databases. Cole shares an online catalog with the Folsom Library at Rensselaer in Troy. 2/10/03
Megan Galbraith has been named acting director of media relations in the Office of Communications. Galbraith, who has served as assistant director of media relations for five years, earned a bachelor's degree at Penn State University. 2/10/03
