Update on Construction Union Picketing
A local construction union, Laborers Local 190
has been picketing Bast-Hatfield, a subcontractor hired by the
Project's Construction Manager, McCarthy, on 15th Street near
the Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies.
Rensselaer is working closely with McCarthy to
ensure Institute employees can safely enter, exit, and conduct
business effectively in and around the area.
While McCarthy has primary responsibility for
all construction activity and its contractors and subcontractors,
Rensselaer will continue to work positively with them throughout
the entire South Campus Development Project.
Rensselaer's Department of Public Safety has asked
the picketers to maintain order and civility, to remain on the
public street, and to not obstruct general campus activity. Public
Safety is monitoring the area regularly.
